Considering starting a new carwash---any advice?

Buy an old one that is about to go out of business and fix is up. The cost of a new wash is too high and you will never get your money back.

SS pump losing pressure and pulsating

What you have described is the spray nozzle is worn out or too big or there could be a leak in the high pressure hose. The first thing I would try is putting in a new spray nozzle on the trigger gun.

    Credit card reader problems

Thanks for all of the information that everyone supplied. Brush Industries has a lot of information about readers and how they wear out or if they are made of some of the higher grade metals they don't wear out. I think our problem is probably worn out readers. Thanks again. JIMT

We have 4 credit card readers on Hamilton ACWs and customers are having a lot of problems with "card unreadable". Is there a way to test the readers or to adjust them to get them to be better at reading the cards. We have one reader that you put the card in and slide it out and the rest are...

    Problem with leaking floor heat

We have a floor heat that is leaking antifreeze but we can't find the leak. We tried an infrared camera with no luck. I remember seeing in the Forum someone had used a particular brand sealer that sealed his leaking floor heat. I cannot find it on the Forum now. If anyone knows about this...

Replacing Metal Halide bay lights with LEDs

Do LED's send all of their light in the direction that you want? Metal halides bulbs send the light in all directions unless you have a perfect reflector which they don't. I am interested in which will do the best job. There a gas station near me that put in LED's on the ceiling of the canopy...

    Programmable Relay or PLC

2Biz, The model number on my PLC is an Idec MicroSmart FC4A. The literature does not talk about Function Blocks. The salesman suggested that I use the one that you use. The FC4A cost a lot more but it uses the same software as 3 of our automatics and I had rewritten the programs that they use...

Looking for a thermostat for floor heater

The thermostat tube in the slab at our car wash failed and we could not get the new thermostat bulb in. We just taped the bulb to the floor heat copper return pipe and wrapped some insulation around it. The temperature of the return pipe is close to the floor slab. JIMT

    Programmable Relay or PLC

2Biz. I was told by Idec that both companies sell the same controller with there own name on it. It is a cheap way to do small projects. I have the next step up Idec controller that uses a different Idec software. It is almost unlimited on the number of inputs and outputs that can be set up...

    Soap Feed Issue

2Biz, Is your soap tank at a lower level than the rinse tank and the pumps? If they are, when you turn to soap the rinse water at the pump is trying to push the soap back to the soap tank. When nothing is running then the soap in the lines is trying to run down into the soap tank then it would...

Mounting blowers on the exterior wall

Ric, We have put the dryers outside on 4 automatics. They are 10 to 15 feet from the building. We have Sunnys dryers which I believe put out a lot more air because the outlet is tangential to the housing. The air is moving in that direction inside the dryer housing so the air does not have...

How to Time in bay functions and Money

superclean, This could be done with a PLC (programmable logic controller). It would require attaching wires from every function of every bay to the PLC. This would be many inputs so the PLC would have to have extra input boards. A program would have to be written with timers that add up the...
