Walter's float valve chewing up diaphrams

I had a roberts float valve in there before. The previous owner cut a notch in the brass area where the seals close so water always flows through and if no one is using the car wash the tank will eventually overflow. I relpaced it with another Roberts only to find out the reason why he did this...

    CCTV video file backup options

What do you guys do to backup your CCTV video files? I thought about uploading files daily to offsite server storage which is fine but what if something happens and someone breaks into the equipment room and steals the DVR sometime before the backup is done? SOL right? I could do backups every...

Walter's float valve chewing up diaphrams

I have a 14" piece of copper pipe on the outlet submerged in the holding tank. The water temperature is around 100 to 110 degrees F. I would think I would get more than 4 to 6 months out of one of these.

Walter's float valve chewing up diaphrams

I have been using a Walter’s two-valve float valve to fill a hot water holding tank that supplies all 7 pumps with water. I noticed recently the tank had drained completely starving the pumps of water. When the demand for hot water ceased, the tank filled back up. Upon observation of this...

    floor heat leak

Thermal imaging will find all your leaks. Pay the money and have a professional come out and take the pics. I had my 7-bay done for $250 last year and he found all three leaks no questions. I dug up the cement and patched all three last summer and no leaks so far. Another thought, when you...

Adding air selection to rotary switch...

Has anyone ever done this? I haven?t heard or seen this installed before but I think it might be a good idea, easy to implement, and not very expensive. I?m looking at adding air to one of my two open selections on my rotary switch. I?ll just run an air hose from my compressor to one side wall...

    Brush damage...really?

I met with him Friday afternoon. Somehow he has convinced himself the scratches were caused by the foam brush. I had him rinse his hood and I squeegeed it and we both took note of the scratches, he then rinsed his hood again and used the foam brush then rinsed and I squeegeed it. He was...

    Brush damage...really?

It's a 2008 Honda Accord so it is faily new. He seems to be calm about it talking with him on the phone. I don't know what he expects out of our meeting this afternoon. I'm not going to give in. Here is his original message to me: Hello my name is Joe Grier and I use your car wash on 120th &...

    Brush damage...really?

A guy contacted me claiming my hog's hair foam brush damaged his car on April 7th. He said he sprayed his car down and sprayed the foam brush before he used it. He said he didn't apply much pressure and didn't feel any scratching when he used the brush. I pulled the video of the guy who used the...

    New Wash Gear Readers

I ordered two of them last week. They don't appear to be much different than the SE other then it is chrome and does not stick out from the wall as much. The STOP button on the sticker overlay is a little larger too but the physical button has not changed.

Boiler loses coolant when off...how does this happen?

It has an expansion tank. I suppose I have added about 12 gallons after I topped it off before winter. It needs roughly 4 gallons each time the system stops for a while then starts back up. It's going to get colder here this week so I'll keep an eye on it to see if it progresses.

Boiler loses coolant when off...how does this happen?

I have a 25-year old boiler that heats the floors at my 7-bay SS wash. I repaired a couple lines that did not pressure test last year. All lines now pressure test just fine. The boiler runs at 14lbs pressure when it is on. With temperatures fluctuating above and below freezing, the boiler kicks...

    Floor heat boiler circulating pump

Yeah, my system is closed with an expansion tank. It runs at 10 psi on average. I would have to get a holding tank that will handle that pressure. I would prefer it to be clear so I can monitor the coolant level. Where can I get such a tank?

    Floor heat boiler circulating pump

The floor heat system by far my biggest headache of this car wash. I have a 7 bay self-service wash that has 36 coolant lines (18 out and 18 in) servicing the 7 bays. When the system starts after being off for a while, the coolant takes a half hour to a hour to circulate consistently. The...

Jarco Floor Heat Boiler cycles on/off constantly

I had a HVAC guy come out yesterday. It took him an hour and a half to fix this issue. Apparently there is a flame sensor built into the igniter unit. He just used a wire brush to clean the igniter since he could not seem to remove the burner for a more thorough cleaning. It is ok now. I'm going...

I have a HVAC guy coming out this afternoon. At $85/hour labor rate, this was my last option.

Jarco Floor Heat Boiler cycles on/off constantly

I have an older Jarco Boiler 700,000 BTU built in 1981. It runs floor heat for 7 bays. Recently it has started to short-cycle on/off every 5 seconds. That's 12 times a minute, 720 times a hour. I hope I don't break anything allowing this to continue. I have replaced the low temp and high temp...
