Which Nayax unit should I buy?

I'm wanting to purchase a Nayax unit for testing purposes. They offer the square shaped IP 55 rated VPOS which is tap, swipe, chip and will probably need the clear cover for the bays. They also offer the nice looking Onyx round unit that is tap only. I'm going to find out for sure, but it may be IP 65 rated and there is no plastic cover available for it from that I understand. We currently use Cryptopay swipers and the older style tap units on all SS bays, vacs, and spiral vender. The last time I checked we were something like close to 80% tap to swipe. Our Dencar kiosk has tap, chip, swipe and we get a lot of chip transactions. Most cards are now tap capable, and of course most people just use their phone to tap. I still have several cards that are not tap capable and I also do not have my phone set up for tap to pay. I'm going to set that up someday soon but it got me to thinking how many of my customers are in the same boat. I'm leaning towards the Onyx but I'm wondering how much business I might lose by not accepting chip if I even install Nayax on our equipment.

Vpos touch is what we use in bays, on vacs, and on autocashiers. We don't have covers on any of them and some have been installed in bays for close to 4 years at this point and they are still the original units. Most of the units that we have had damaged is from customer abuse, and since we have good cameras that can pick-up license plates, most of them have had to pay for the unit they messed up

I've had the vpos for almost 3 years now, haven't had a problem with any of them. I have covers on them as water eating on the screen will end the transaction.

What percentage of transactions are chip?
Here's a snapshot of Three Car Washes
  • Upper-Class College City (6 NAYAX self service bays)
  • Upper Middle-Class Suburb (8 NAYAX self service bays)
  • Diverse Working-Class Neighborhood (6 NAYAX self service bays)
Last 30 days - 2,769 Total credit card transactions … yeah, it’s been slow!
  • 1,840 Tap = 66%
  • 569 NFC = 21%
  • 348 Contact (Insert) = 13%
  • 12 Mag Stripe = 0.4%
I'd recommend the VPOS...it gives you all 4 readers in one device. You can do count-up, count-down, multi-price, and several other methods that I haven't explored.
Since 2020, I’ve installed about 100 NAYAX VPOS in bays, vacuums and AutoCashiers. I’ve replaced 1 failed reader.

All but 12 readers have the protective covers.
11 readers are directly connected to the previous firmware version of Dixmor LED6. The rest utilize an optocoupler interface to power the load.
All readers are powered by the bay or vacuum 24v transformer.

If you have ethernet cables at each meter box, purchase the Vpos Touch Ethernet Adaptor cable, too. PN: C140001
Cellular and Ethernet together protects you against outages... the devices automatically determine the best signal.

Do you guys think that if you went to a tap only unit, you would lose any business? I suppose those of you that have put in Cryptopay Tap Plus (only) units in could answer that too.

Not too familiar with the tap only unit. Does it do count up?

Is it true you can wire an external stop button to VPOS?
True!
On the VPOS Pulse Cable connect a normally open momentary contact switch:
Brown wire = VPOS GND
Light green wire = VPOS Door Open

Set parameters:
Device Features/Door Open Functionality = "As Cancel"
Pulse/ccTalk/Increment Source = "Door Open As Cancel"

We have an external stop on our vacs that have nayax and count up. Probably do away with that and go back to count down with price selections on the vpos.

Is there an easy way to get the LED button ring to flash while running like Cryptopay does?

Always looking to get away from my current units, and have considered Nayax for a while
We have that as standard on all our count up installations, I won't run count up without the external button now.
Can you set these up to count up in money instead of time?
Nayax shows both time and $ on count up screen

What are you guys paying for fees? Also, I read on one of the car wash Facebook groups that you can change the default processor and then can be paid daily instead of weekly. Have any of you done that?
