New chemistry that I almost passed on - then WOW

Braker Ultra on our high PH, Foamy Bug on a bug assault pass and Results on our low. I’d have to look what tips we have again. I’m on vacation currently so when I get back I’ll look. I know braker is heavier than recommended. I think results falls within the specs and foamy bug is there because it’s a little cheaper than braker and goes a long ways on just the big assault pass.

We tried a lot of things initially trying to get it to wash until we figured out our city water and softener weren’t working properly. Once we got our softener figured out and the city water is somewhat better now it’s doing a good job other than bugs n brows. It must have just happened to get setup that way when it was all said and done

I m going to add a little more to this.
busy day and been watching cars
I think this new soap is truly special
But-
I have been noticing this as well
We have been applying a good ceramic for 18 months now
My usual consistent customers that have been getting this- their cars have been getting easier to clean as time goes on.
far easier than when we just had wax and clear coat.
now I have been applying it at a strong rate to compete with the tunnels for appearance/shine.
It has put me in position to turn down the soap a touch when bug season is over.

That’s great, and a nice benefit of the ceramics, but watch out - you’ll still have plenty of once a month, or once every six week washers who also don’t get your ceramic and if you turn down your soap too much, they won’t be getting a decent basic cleaning.

Point taken
Let me clarify that
When I say turn it down
I might go down 1 tip at most
Dropping titration from 22 to 19
I will never sacrifice cleaning to save a nickel
My point is that Ceramic has possibly provided me with that option
Whether I do it or not depends on other factors.

Are these chemicals taking off the eyebrow on the glass? I'm referring to the film left on the windshield where the wiper blades don't reach.

Absolutely YES

see an older thread from earlier this year about eyebrows started by “Go Buckeyes”
Worth the read thru!

I may have missed this, but is there a name of these chemquest products mentioned yet? I have a friend that is a chemquest user and I thought I would pass it along

Thanks for the post!

What ceramic are you going with?
Nova is the Ceramic

Zenith is getting tested now for the new top wash package
Its a graphene product
Putting it on just ahead of the ceramic (Nova)
Then spot free rinse
Cars look amazing! Feel amazing!

Only problem- they wont need to wash as often.

You're going to apply graphene and ceramic? I thought you chose either one or the other?
The tunnels are applying both
Some make 2 applications ceramic and one graphene.
You put the two together - its impressive

Carnuba wax is HISTORY!!!!!

Not sure about that. I use a Carnauba wax from Quest called Shine On. It is freaking AWESOME!!
Oh it probably is!
Lots of carnuba waxes are really good!
Here is the reason behind why I say its history
1) waxes and ceramics dont like each other
To apply 1 you gotta get the other rinsed off good - which takes time and water

(They are inherently totally different products. Carnuba wax is soft and somewhat sticky. Ceramics want to get to the paint surface to harden and seal)

2) it takes less water to apply ceramics than waxes when you include the rinse off

3) the effect the customer realizes is that car stays shiny longer with the ceramics

So therefore - in the IBA world, moving forward in our competitive environment

You are going to go with the speedy - easy applying - efficient products like ceramics
Thats why I say Carnuba is history

I understand what you are saying, and in the hand-applied, professional detail world I am sure this matters. However, in the automatic IBA or tunnel world, these are spray on , rinse off products that really only contain trace amounts of the said substance. It is essentially a polymer that creates the effect the product, be it shine, gloss , water repellency etc. Any spray on product containing carnauba in an automatic car wash is going to have a small amount of emulsified carnauba. That will be a very different property than a can of carnauba paste or liquid that you hand apply. Those products are sticky, but spray on rinse off applications of emulsions do not have the same properties. They create a similar effect, but are formulated differently.

All I can say is that after 2 years of carnuba out of the rain bar
(Because we felt like we needed the “show” for the top wash)
And I had the carnuba turned down half of what we used to put on
Then a rinse pass -a strong rinse pass thru the arch
Then ceramic

I ve quit worrying about the “show” and more about the finished product/look of the car
Take carnuba out of the mix

Straight ceramic cars shine brighter and dry easier
Add Graphene to the mix
They get shinier and dry even better
And the shine lasts longer!

We shaved about 45 seconds off the length of the wash
