There are still issues with the Tap Plus units when they are paired to the swipers.I have 2 locations that use swipe and crypto tap and they have work great. I have a single location that only has swipe and I was wanting to add crypto tap but now you can only get get the tap plus. I see folks are having some problems with the tap plus so I am a little worried but think I will do like Greg and have them slave to the swipers until they go dead.
Tech suggested i reseat the ribbon cable onthe display. I had doubts because the power to the unit does not pass thru the ribbon cable. To my surprise it did make it work. The point is it was a connectivity issue in my case. it sounds like everyone else has a differrent problem but hopefully this helps somebody.
Ignorance- what’s the WSII?Had my tap plus units installed on nine devices for a couple of months. They are all programmed to work as slaves to the swipers. everything is count up The bays have dixmor led6 timers. The vacs have dixmor 7 or 9 timers. Two units on the wash select II. I haven't experienced any significant problems and it's been a pretty busy Month with several thousand transactions. About a week ago I did have one guy call and although the card worked for him in the IBA bay, it would cut off after thirty seconds or so in the SS bay. But it worked for everyone else. I would normally chalk that up to an insufficient card balance to clear pre auth but it worked for the auto and no denial record in virtual terminal.
What issues are you having? Ive had 6 tap plus on vacs. I had to reset one a few years ago and today I did one. They are not paired to swipers though. There are still issues with the Tap Plus units when they are paired to the swipers.
Its funny I seen an article today about a 5 million dollar class action lawsuit filed again Tommys Car Wash. Not that 5 mil will make or break but I hope they have to pay it for all the mom and pop operations they took down. The suit is about every wash club package produces the same result. I honestly cant not agree as it is a brush wash and not a touchless. The chemical guys will hate me for saying thatCryptopay better get their crap together, or they might be staring down a class action lawsuit.
We do not have the Tap Plus, but I know someone who has had a lot of problems with them. They would go offline and need to be restarted, and I think there were other issues. He had them paired and not paired, and still had issues either way. Cryptopay worked with him and modified the software. Last I heard, they were working better. We have the regular Cryptotap units that have to be paired to a swiper. We bought 11 of them, put 10 in service to give us a spare. They have been mostly reliable, but two failed within a year and were replaced under warranty. They do not sell the Cryptotap units now, so we would be forced to buy the Tap Plus if we needed to buy any. Something I think about often is how so many people have essentially no issues with a product, and many others have nothing but trouble. Dencar falls into that category. What issues are you having? I have not heard of anyone who has that low of fees from them. Ours was 4.5% in March with an $11.10 average ticket, and in February it was 4.7% on a $9.91 average ticket. Our auto wash is on another platform, so we only have SS bays, vacs, and vending on Cryptopay. What is your average ticket?MY last month crypto pay cost was only 3.3% of sales. I can sure live with that after getting away from the Tsys crap. I sove more than enough to make a payment on a new pickup.
I'm not sure about the chargeback fees, but we only get a few a year so I doubt that plays into the total fees much for us. Also, those two months that I posted about had no chargebacks.Wow soapy, that's super low. I'm running 4.1% on a $11-$12 range avg transaction.
I understand rewards cards are higher, and chargebacks can play a role, although it shouldn't be significant. My understanding is on a chargeback you pay fees both ways. Does anyone know if that is true?
I'll go around with you lolOne of the funnest car wash things I do is go to booths at the expo and ask them hard questions about stuff like this, while there are tons of other people around... lol. I'll be sure to grill them on this subject next month. I had switch my swipers to tap plus units on my list of things to do this year.
Third time that the same one of my 3 Tap+ stopped reading cards with no warning. This time I did some troubleshooting. Bezel lights were normal, but when presented with a credit card, nothing happens. No charges either. Interestingly, when showing the attendant card the Tap+ beeps but does not send any signal to the timer or the internet. The timer is LED6 but that is not the issue, the Tap+ never sends any signal and doesn't try to talk to the coordinator.I had this issue again in Feb 2026 on 1 out of 3 bays that have Tap+. I power cycled that bay and all is ok again. I hope this doesn't become a trend, but it would be a good idea to power cycle the bays every once in a while, I guess.
