I fail to see how a flag pin represents patriotism. I've never worn a flag pin in my entire life, yet still would not choose to live in any other country or want anything else than what is best for the US. I'd imagine all of you wear your flag pins around where ever you go? I looked around today and I haven't seen 1 american with a flag pin on in this great city. I guess we are all unpatriotic to not wear a piece of cheap metal made in china on our shirts.
As for the hand across the heart thing: Watch or go to a sporting event some time. Very few people do anything more than take off their hat and put their hands behind their back.
Pretty shallow to base your beliefs on a few minute details.
You really don't get it. Obama refused to wear the lapel pin. In the other picture he is standing at attention. Obama was slumped over and not even facing forward. If you can compare an endorsement to a 20 year relationship there is no use arguing. That is not even apples to oranges. It's more like apples to a rocket ship.
Are you a friend of Doug? You two would get along great.
I would agree that wearing the flag pin, doesn't make you a better American, no more than waving the Bible, makes you a better person, however, since a lot of us old farts think that patriotism is important, and that is a symbol of it, especially if you are going to be the President, you would think that he's wear it, just to cover that base, just like most politicians will go to a church and kiss babies.
