Both the Dixmor & Hamilton are tremendous improvements over the CFL green displays. I would rate the CFLs at a 1 or 2 in the sun, Hamilton at a 7 and Dixmor a 9. Not a whole lot of difference between the Dixmor & Hamilton but I thought it was enough for me to change the one I did because of it facing the South. It seems to be in the sun a lot more.

Here is something else to consider....I bought the Dixmor retro-fit and started to install it today. In the middle of soldering in the jumper, a customer pounded on the equipment room door needing assistance 2 or 3 times. Keep in mind it was on and off rain here today. Anyway, I was so irritated by him and already aprehensive about modifying the controller that I ended up soldering the jumper to the wrong terminal! Of course I didn't realize this until after I re-installed everything and fired up the autocashier to a resounding nothing! Long story short, I had to uninstall everything, reinstall the old display and put in my spare controller. What a pain! All because I didn't pay attention to what I was doing.

Now, I have a controller that needs fixing and has been owner modified. What do you think Hamilton will say if I try to have them do it? In this instance, I caused the problem, however, I've had to send a controller in for service several times over the years for no fault of my own. If Hamilton won't work on this, you may have a problem if you need their service in the future.
