Crypto pay or Nayax? I need to upgrade the credit card system and am having trouble deciding.

If you like replacing readers frequently, terrible customer service, and a website that is extremely difficult to navigate then go with nayax. In fact I got a 5 gal bucket full of used ones I'll sell you if you go that route.

Go with the reader thats made for the car wash environment that you dont have to put a shield over if installed in a self serve bay.
None of our nayax units have shields in bays or on vacs

You can set your pre authorization to whatever amount you want with Nayax.
I didn’t know this for Nayax, that’s good. Not the case with the Monex that was just taken out. Since we run count up to a maximum of $15. Monex always pre authorized to the max for each and every swipe or tap. Sometimes customers would get $15, $30 or higher holds Most would complain and not understand the meaning of a “pending hold or pre authorization” Monex wouldn’t change this.

Nayax's Multi Price Mode eliminates the “troublesome” Count-Up Pre-Authorization by enabling car wash operators to display up to six different pricing options on their VPOS touchscreens.

Say you charge $5 for 5 minutes. The first selection on the Nayax touchscreen would be programmed for $5.00/5 Minutes.
Increment each additional touchscreen selection for
$6/6 min
$7/7 min
$8/8 min
etc.
etc.

By strategically setting pricing options, you could even extend wash times for higher priced selections.
For example:
$5 for 5 minutes
$7 for 7 minutes
$9 for 9 minutes
$10 for 12 minutes
$12 for 15 minutes
$15 for 20 minutes

Customer's cards are then charged for selection chosen.... with No Pre-Authorization!

Operators can choose to display 2, 4, or 6 price options and customize each description to suit their offerings.

So, that being said, if a client doesn’t want to do fixed price choices, but prefers to keep and “count up” only to a maximum $ amount, then there will be the full pre-authorization?

Correct.
Just like using pay-at-the-pump at a gas station.

I have operators running Count Up with maximums of $15.00. Some are at $20 and a few that are set to $25.
It's all about their delta price/time.

Are you able to fit on the screen / button the "$5 for 5 minutes" for example or only the price?

No there just POS. I had relays which shouldn’t even be needed in the first case.
Sorry to hear of your issues. My experience is completely the opposite.
Out of 100+ installs, I've replaced only one device in 5 years.

Greg Pack,
We power every reader with the car wash's 24v AC transformer(s)...or an add-on universal transformer for vacuums.
So much for the "voltage sensitivity" reporting.

I thought Nayax were particularly vulnerable to slightly high AC voltage, like26- 28VAC would kill them? I saw some people buying AC to DC transformers for that reason. They accept a very wide range of DC voltage.

Before installing them, I power up every reader with my test bench transformer which outputs 27.9V AC (no load).

Nayax does offer a POWER ADAPTOR- 110/230 VAC > 24V DC. Who has 110/230 VAC at every meterbox?

I was once asked to troubleshoot a poor cellular comm issue with an installation provided by another service provider.
The meter boxes included Cat5 cables for the retired CC system.
They used the Cat5 to provide 24V DC to the Nayax readers...with the DC power supplies in the equipment room.

I restored the Cat5 cables, added Nayax's ethernet adaptors, reconnected the network switch, and powered the readers with the meter box's 24VAC.
No more comm issues...and faster approvals.

We are using ac/dc converters in the meter boxes and vacs to get 12vdc from the bay 24vac input. Never tried using bay power due to reading about dead nayax units from using bay power directly, I wasn't willing to risk having a $300 bricked unit. Cheap insurance IMO to use the converter

Thats amazing. After 20 some readers I purchased and replaced with warranty units at least once or twice I started ripping them out after I had to buy new units a few times. I cant have that bad of luck. Trust me nothing more upsetting that having a 5 gal bucket full of the POS readers I purchased. Wasted money. Your story about 1 in a 100 sounds too good to be true but since your admitting publicly on a forum that you cant break 80 I just might believe you :ROFLMAO:

After the first purchase of 6 or so units that did not work and I told them the issue with those was a continuous pulse and they blamed the wiring. About 20 emails later this was the response I received, See attached. Ignored phone calls and sent a generic response. I have 100's of receipts I saved. Thats why I said in my post their customer service is absolutely shit. You can look at another nayax thread where HARRY the nayax "GURU" also promises the world to get new customers but ignores existing customers. I posted screen shots there also to prove what bullshit they are.

All the ones I lost either provided a continuous pulse, no pulse at all after card was accepted, card read error on the chip, or just completely died.

I only had 20 some unit. They were purchased in 2020/2021 so maybe somethings changed over there since then with the swipers. Customer service has not though.

Blanco who do you use now?

I am about to tear out our cantaloupe swipers and am looking at options.

I've had Cryptopay on one of our IBA for years and I just haven't been impressed. Even a new swiper takes a couple swipes to get it to read a card. Add to that having to buy the tap option separate, $900+ per bay just seems crazy. Not to mention the headaches WorldPay has given me over the years.

I have been looking at Monex and Nayax but now I don't know what to do. I see horror stories for both of them. I just called Nayax tech support to get an idea of service and after 23 minutes on hold an Indian woman answered so that's not looking good. Monex was 9 minutes.

I have 3 locations with a total of: 15 SS bays, 20 vacs, 3 IBA's.

I was wondering also if anyone has put a credit card reader on their bill changer so that I wouldn't have to add readers to every vacuum.

Nayax is just fine if they are setup correctly, there are so many car washes and even more industries using nayax. They are a global fintech company with tons of devices in use.
