AW stands for anti-wear. It might actually be better than ISO-68. The 68 is the viscosity, so that's the same weight as Cat oil. As long as it's not crazy expensive it should be perfectly fine.

At Rural King 2 gallons of AW-68 is $27.99. Cat pump ISO-68 oil is $9.01 for 21 oz. Tractor supply is $59.99 for 2 gallons of Mystik ISO-68. My local farm store has AW-68 for $39.99 in a 2 gallon jug. Rural King looks like a pretty good deal.

Sounds like a good place. The nearest one to me is 650 miles away. We have lots of Tractor Supply stores, most of which are poorly managed.

The Cat Oil will actually mix with water and not be completely displaced by water. So if you have leaking seals your pump can run for a while until you notice it without trashing the bearings.

I’m going to have to dispute that statement. Here’s the SDS for Cat pump oil https://www.catpumps.com/sites/default/files/2020-10/6100_6105_6107_6109_ISO 68_SDS_P_0.pdf in section 9 it states “Solubility: Negligible in water, miscible in most petroleum solvent” I don't think it mixes with water very well.
