Wyndstar Doors and Sealing in the Heat

I want to temporarily turn one of my SS bays into a detail bay. I was looking at the Wyndstar doors, but from what I see in the video, they don't completely seal off the opening, so I presume they're for warmer climates.

Can anybody offer input on their installs?

I've had 2 Wyndstar door on my busy automatics for almost 5 years. I love them. They are trouble free and dependable. The best feature is the way they reset themselves if someone hits them.

You get what you pay for. They aren't cheap....but for a busy automatic, they're worth every penny.

If you are using the doors temporarily, then why not use something more reasonable like mini-warehouse steel roll up doors or similar? You could probably get by at less than a grand....

I think what you want for a detailing bay are some metal, insulated garage doors with rubber seals at the bottom. You could make them manually operated and save $$. They'll hold the heat in well in cold weather.

I installed a couple of exterior mount Wyndstar doors last summer for an automatic and they have been great so far this winter, I have several of the air operated doors and I am not a fan of them. As you pointed out my doors are sealed very well on the sides and bottom but I have a pretty good air gap at the top. I havent taken the time yet to call the company and ask for advice about sealing them up but I need to figure something out.

Doug, I have been told that the gap at the top has been remedied. The fix will retro-fit to the existing doors. I haven't checked into it myself, but plan to buy two more Wyndstars this year and will know more then. I'm sure I will be adding the sealing kit to my two older doors.

I've seen what the cost of these doors is and they are expensive. To not seal at the top is crazy for a supposedly top-notch product.

Waxman, all though I will like use the door temporarily, I plan on leaving it there and using it when I need to close a bay. Since I'll be doing some detailing, I do want something than will allow light into the bay. They are not cheap, but I don't find them that expensive either. The door set on my auto was about $20k installed...but really nice doors.

$10,000 per door and they leave a air gap in them?? Thats rediculous..Nice Door Wynstar.
I believe when I priced them out it was about $8000 for one door installed and another 2000 for the opener. Is that correct?
Maybe I should mold some plastic together, fabricate a track to hold it And then rip off poor car wash owners to!
