Hi,

Curious what folks have their mechanics classified as. Noticed our insurance is showing code 8380 "Automobile service center or repair center & drivers" for our 'mechanic' / technician. The rate is $4.66 per $100 payroll. Feels like robbery to me. Never had a claim. By comparison Clerical (code 8810) is 0.39 per $100 payroll.

What are other folks paying for mechanic / technician type work and what workers comp codes do you see out there. My mechanic isn't working on autos. He's not gonna drop an axle on his foot or anything No loss time injuries thus far.

Thanks

In Washington State we use Classification 3406-05 Automobile or truck car washes for our employees. I don’t see how you could call a attendant who picks up a wrench once in a while to fix something a mechanic, more like a janitor.

Thanks. Mind if I ask what premium you're paying for that class code?
