I don’t like that setup. This needs a thrash pump and then the downstream plumbing.

Easiest solution IMO would be to add a foot valve to the end of the pickup if there isn't one already, tee in fresh water supply to inlet of pump, turn on water to fill pipe and prime pump, then turn on primed pump and shut off water. It doesn't matter what kind of foot valve or check valve you put on a pump sucking water out of your pit, it's going to get debris in it and the pump will not stay primed.

The photo you provide... looks like you are pumping water from a water well... is that what you are trying to do (pump clear water from a water well)?

words have meaning:
a water well is not a tank....
a carwash pit can be a tank...
a tank can hold water...
a tank can hold waste water...
a water well is not a carwash pit.....
a carwash pit should not be a water well but it could be a source for recycling water...

View attachment 6691 Example of a shallow water well pump; with a gold colored brass check valve ahead of the pump to maintain water prime at the pump; and a tee before that with a red handled valve to prime the suction line if needed (the bottom of that suction line also contains a foot valve/check valve).
Thanks so much for your explaining. really a

Thanks so much for your explaining. We use well water and the pump is for pumping the waste water from wash bay pit.
