Which Pressure Reg?

Well-known member
Have pressure regulators in the SS. Disapointed in longevity and rebuild does not seem to work.

KR catalog shows 3 similar / identical to what I have

KR Brand RE7085

SMC Brand RE55590K

Giant PU 21905F

Any reccomendations of one over another?

Earl,

It has been so long since we have had to buy one of those pressure regulator-unloaders that I am no longer sure but it seems like the best was J.E. Adams. I have memories during a period of time (over 10 years ago) where I needed to toss some different brands out because I found what I thought was unbelievable at the time ... the seat  ... actually was made from a non stainless magnetic steel that would rust.

In hindsight I would have kept a better log of the specific brand-part # that worked out & also the brand-part #'s that did not work out ... it certainly was pertinent information that should have be recorded in a way that could be accessed even after 10 years had gone by. Especially if the manufacturer never did get around to correcting the specific problem.

I've always used Paraplate BR5-2, but the SMC is very good, same design as the Adams you listed but lasts much longer without problems.

We use the Cat 7002 Regulator. Never have any problems with them, they are over 30 years old.

have used the SMC and US Paraplate for decades. Both have worked well. SMC,s are throwaways when bad. After years of use the brass slowly wears out. US Paraplate last much longer, easily rebuildable.

at a ica show a pump rep from a competing company recommended general pump gp k7 series unloader, best un loader, we have a lot of these in service and they are super great by pass unloader. last a very long time, when they wear out because we cant adjust pressure to desired level we just replace with same unit and they last for years
