where to learn basics & fundamentals for maintenance/repairs?

Hello all,

First time poster here and new to forums. I'm in the process of acquiring a self-serve wash and taking care of maintenance to lower expenses is something I plan on doing.

Here's the problem...

I have absolutely zero experience and knowledge in this subject. I'm aware that a lot of learning will be done from watching hired handymen do the job. Not trying to bite more than I can chew here, but I got some free time and I like to learn (even if it's at the most basic level on a subject).

Anyone have reccommendations on courses or books that would give me a general understanding on this?

Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

watch some videos. kleen rite has a video series on repairs. i have watched videos by arimitsu, too, when i wanted to repair my own arimitsu high pressure pump.

you're fortunate to be a new owner in the time of the Internet, where you can look up videos on a lot of the things that you will need to repair. That's how I do a lot of automotive repairs that I have not done before; first step is to watch a video about what I'm trying to do.

You should probably also look at a video on how to use a multimeter because that's going to come in really handy with testing and diagnosing electrical issues which are pretty common problems in a car wash environment. and you want to learn safety in working on things like electricity so you don't get hurt.
