does it damage Cat 310 pumps to use a non weep gun? It sure doesen't sound good. One of my bays is weeping excessively. I tried a new gun but got the same result.
I think it is actually siphoning from my water supply??? any help?
It will eventually damage the pump with a non-weep gun, unless you use an unloader instead of a bypass regulator. Pumping water at high pressure generates a lot of heat, and with no water flow it will melt all the plastic and rubber parts in the pump if someone leaves the bay running. It will even happen with a weep gun:
An unloader will relieve the pressure on the pump and keep it from getting as hot, but it's riskier. If something fails you might still end up with a ruined pump.
