Wand issue

I bought 2 Cat Pump high pressure weep wands last spring. Put first one on 2 months ago, works fine. Put the second one on today and it won’t spray any water out when it’s idling, sprays good when you pull the handle. Took it back off. Anyone know why it won’t spray on idle? The other one does.

If it sprays normally when you pull the trigger, I’d suspect the weep circuit in the wand rather than the pump or supply.

There’s usually a very small passage/orifice that allows that constant trickle when the trigger is released. Since the wand sat unused for a while, I’d check for debris, a stuck check/weep valve, or anything blocking that tiny passage.

Before taking much apart, I’d compare the nozzle/orifice and fittings with the wand that works and make sure nothing is installed differently. If they’re identical, I’d probably flush the new one and inspect the weep valve before assuming anything is wrong upstream.

The fact that full pressure works when triggered is a pretty good clue that the problem is inside the wand itself.

They probably got the non-weep gun mixed up with a weep gun. Call whoever you bought from and see if you can send it back.
