Vitamine D, who would have thought

Bill, there's also some evidence suggesting people with high levels of vitamin D may be less likely to contract swine flu. I believe it is being researched by the Canadian Government.

Bill, I can't believe that you get the bAARP rag in the first place. They have been against every attempt to privitize social security and keep healt care private.

In the past couple weeks I have contacted AARP a couple times on their support of Obama care. The first was to use the automated "contact your congressman" phone number--it worked ,it auto dialed my Represenative's office and I registered my negative comments on this bill. The prerecorded message said call your Congressman and register your "support" for bill. When pressed they backtracked and said they do not have a position--I called them on their dishonesty. They took the system down when the calls were not on script--many more against than for.

They next hijacked a meeting with one of our Senators. As one of three sponsors for health care forum, they volunteered to handle invitations. I called and they said this is by "invitation only" forum and there will be no more invitations. The Senators staff acknowledged that they got snookered by AARP--he gave a keynote and took Q & A's from the carefully selected pro invitation only crowd.. This Senator is in hiding and will not hold a meeting. I shared my thoughts with this unethical organization again.

Can anyone explain to me why AARP has become a left leaning organization? On the surface one would think that a seniors organization would be more on the conservative side.

Contrary to popular belief, AARP is not an organization for seniors, it is simply an organization that collects money from seniors, usually to support the left wing agenda.
The other day I got my umpteenth invitation to join AARP...of course for a minimum of a $45.00 fee. I tore up the attached membership card and wrote on their invitation, "Not no, but hell no!!!", and sent it back to them.

Well, first you have to remember that AARP is the undercover left wing arm of the national teachers union. Apparently, they got in trouble with the IRS and so changed the name etc.

Like a lot of things in the US, you don't have to agree with them to get something of value from them. I save about $300 a year on my car insurance with Hartford. I get 10% discounts here and there. Many of their recommended advertisers are a rip off, i.e. pc anywhere or whatever it was.

I don't know what the $45 was for, I just renewed and it was $10-12 a year. I originally joined 10 years ago, I don't remember what it cost, but it wasn't much, I must of bought it for 10 years as even though they kept sending me renewal notices, I was still good until this year.

Yes, they suck but there are a few good things from them. I'm getting screwed from a lot more entities than them, most I have no choice but to belong.
