Vacuums: cc swiper location

i'm installing credit card Swiper's on my IVS vacuums. They are the old-school ones with no display. I'm leaning towards putting the box for the Swipers on the right hand side of the coin box area. What are your thoughts on this? Do you have pictures you could share of your vacuums with a Swiper mounted like I'm describing? Thank you

How old are they? The meter panels have been roughly 8.5 X 15 for about 20 years. We put several brands of credit card on those.

about 20 years old
Get me the measurements. You probably have the previous "B" size. I know we've made those replacement panels for a Dixmor but I'd have to dig to see if we ever did one where the Cryptopay actually fit. I think the Tap+ may fit but not confident on the swiper.

Fwiw, I prefer to have the swiper almost in the way of the coin acceptor and usually mount them in between the coin accept and coin reject slots. The security bar prevented that at one location so it's in the upper left hand corner (sorry it's blurry, it's an old file pic)
Same with Tap, no box needed.

Do you guys think it's financially worth the investment to put credit cards on vacuums? Currently have them in bays but not vacuums.

Depending on how busy you are, you could pick your busiest vacuum and just add one TapPlus. Then advertise the heck out of it as a new feature and wait until your customers begin to find it. Then as usage hits your threshold you can add another.
Visually, it makes for an attractive advertisement from the street.
Makes my old D&H look young and purty again.😄

I just waited until I found some used Swiper's for sale here on the forum and then made the switch. Installing them soon. Looking forward to it.

In a recent conversation with the folks at CryptoPay, he mentioned that the big CC providers (Visa, Mastercard, etc) would be discontinuing mag strips on CC’s in 4 or 5 years, and the Tap plus were more secure for transactions….

The Taps+ have been well received in the wash bays and dog washes…. We will likely add to the vacuums later this year…

They've been saying that for over a decade. It's always 3-4 years. When Walmart, Target, Home Depot, etc decide they no longer need/want to accept mag stripes they'll go away. I do think it's closer to happening than ever but anyone trying to put a timeline on it is purely guessing.

Indeed.
I do believe the perception of mag stripe is at it's lowest point tho. I'm starting to hear regularly from our customers that they won't use the swipers for fear of skimming
