Vacuum Vandalism - How to fix lock?

Hello, we had some vandalism this weekend on our vacuum. I am curious how to go about repairing this? Is this something where I can buy new Modeco locks and install them, or do you think the drill has done more damage than visible? I haven't tried to put the key in the lock yet until I got some advice on the forum. Thanks in advance!

Order new plug locks.
You should be able to use the key if you clear the opening to the keyway. The tumblers aren't that close to the front of the plug. i'd try using a curved pick to pull out the pits of brass. You may need to use another really sharp drill bit to clean the keyway, just enough to clear out the damaged area. I think I'd use a larger bit, 1/2" or larger, not a small one. Try not to damage the look housing. the housings are available and easy to get. Don't make yourself overthink it.

Before you do anything you want to order a couple more Medeco plug locks. You can get them from Kleen-rite https://www.kleen-ritecorp.com/p-963-medeco-plug-lock-and-key.aspx
Or you can go on Amazon and search for a Medeco Plug lock, I just checked and they are $29.97. you want to get them keyed alike. Before you try to drill them out contact me and I'll help you.

You may also want to figure a way to put hockey puck lock over the Medeco lock. It will slow them down and they sometimes get discouraged if they remove one lock and then find another - Randy's method i scary good.

I wanted to close the loop on this thread. I was able to work with Randy and he provided a method to remove the locks and it worked great! I would highly recommend getting ahold of him if anyone has this issue in the future.

Medeco locks work great I would make sure not to use Ra-Lock as a vendor.

I used Ra-Lock many times. They were always great.

They messed up the same order twice and I needed locks so I purchased some local. The back and forth mailing locks was time consuming. Even though they kept messing up I was charged 25% restocking fee on a $900.00 order. I have been in contact with Medeco but they have little control with refund policy with vendors. I have asked for all my key codes and another vendor. Bad deal we have been using them I believe for almost 20 years with 7 locations at one time.

We put these on vacs to keep dirt diggers out. You can also use with hockey puck over lock for your vaults.
