Yesterday I installed the last GS vac motor that I had. What are you using to replace the GS motors in that you can?t buy them anymore?
 
I ordered some of the Domel motors from Windtrax and like them. The 492 is a bit taller than the GS or Lamb but it has more volume and more lift than either the Lamb or GS, and it's quieter. The 492.4 costs more but is the same height if your brackets won't allow for the taller motor. They seem to be built well, but I haven't had any in service long enough to tell if they're going to last.

They also have a no-name motor part # CS-9530 that's cheaper and directly replaces the GS.
 
Have done the same as Mep001 going with the Domel 492 motors. They are stronger and some what quieter. Have five on line but the longest has only been about one year. Thus far we're happy with them.
 
We?ve always had success with the Ametek/Lamb vac motor K/R #VAL6336. It?s the vac motor that came in the vac?s when they were new. I do have one G/S vac motor in one of the vac?s. I?ve been waiting for it to die so I can replace it with 6336 so everything will be the same.

The ?Domel? company headquarters Is in all places in Zelezniki Slovenia
 
Thanks for the info. guys. Looks like it will be a Domel from Windtrax or a Lamb from Kleen-Rite. I could not find Electrolux in any supply house catalogs.
 
I?d go with the Lamb #VAL6336 from K/R for the simple reason that it?s the most common vac motor used in the car wash industry and it?s a direct replacement (mounting bracket) for the G/S motor. The Domel is a good motor but it?s not very common in the car wash industry and if you have to deal with the higher motor case making new mounting brackets, no thanks. I?d rather stick with what I?ve got.

Jim, you won't find Electrolux in any supply house catalogs. They manufacture house hold vacuums. A few years ago, they started making vac motors for a local car wash manufacture which is on the same footprint as the lamb motor. I always used the lamb motor before with good success, just figured I could save a few bucks on these by not having to pay shipping.

Where the mounting holes are on the Domel motor, is it metal or plastic?
 
They're in the same arrangement as either the Lamb or the GS. The 492 is metal. I don't know what the 492.4 is for sure, but the picture on Windtrax's site looks like it's metal too.

Wonder what is the difference is between the 6336 and the cheaper 9414?
 
I bought some 9414s last time I needed motors. The main difference I notice from the GS is the fan housing. The upper half is plastic. I've only installed a couple of them so I can't give much feedback on their quality.
