Vac Motor - KR vs. ?

I usually by the KR VMK19 (KR #) because it's least expensive.

Any thoughts on this vs. Lamb VAL 9414 (KR stock #)

It's only $2.00 more, and then of course their are the motors that are 10, 20, 30, 40-50% more.

Thoughts?

I use the Domel 492 from Windtrax. They may be twice as much, but the brushes last four years (I change them every two) where the predecessor to the VMK19 had the top bearing fail in less than a year. I have yet to have a Domel motor go out in about ten years now. The only problem is they're about 1/4" taller so they don't fit some vacs and they have to be changed in pairs in others (which I do anyway). They fit fine in Doyle/Industrial and Fragramatics with the double-bend strap hold downs.

414 is perfered vac motor

I didn't even know the VMK19 was taller.

we use 414 as we have over 60 vacs in service, brushes are very easy to change out and the small price difference when your out in the field doing service work is worth it to us.
Adams vacs on the other hand are extremely hard to service, brushes are very hard to replace, fuse holders are a piece of junk when they blow the entire fuse hold has to be replaced and rewired, parts are consumer grade and units require a lot of maintance

I use the VMK19....Pulled one last week that quit and wasn't dated. (I mark the date on them when I change one) So its 8+ years old. I have been successful in changing brushes after they wear out, but for $30 ea for new, is it worth it?

I use the val9414s. I tried the vmk, but they did not hold up. I never change brushes. When a motor fails, that unit gets two new motors. At the cost of the val 9414 it is not worth the hassle of brush changes to me. Typical motor life is 3-5 years for our locations.

I've been using the vmk19 for years and just change the brushes when they go out. Takes under a minute and brushes are only $2.50

We use the Lamb VAL6336 motor. We bought about 15 of them years ago when they were on sale at KR. We still have a few in storage shelf. We change the brushes every year, usually in August. Most of them have last around 8 or 9 years before we replace them. I did a field test on some Electrolux Motors that looked just like the KR VMK19 motor. They were a fit perfect replacement for the VAL6336 motor. The KR brush kit worked in the Electrolux motor.
