I've wanted to try 1 1/2" vac hose for a while since some of you have said customers prefer it because it's light and easier to grip. Someone showed me a tank reducer on a fragrance vac, but I didn't like it - there was nothing to keep the hose from working into the tank or unscrewing from being twisted, a problem I already have, and it whistled really bad from air leaking around it.
Sometimes I find two feet of hose coiled up in the cleanout bin, but this one was hanging on by just one thread:
Of course the hose gets filthy when it's in the tank, and it leaks:
I used a 2" to 1 1/2" swivel reducer and shaved a couple threads flat for a better seal:
Hose clamp to make sure it seals and stays in place:
Made sure it was where I wanted it before I tightened it down:
Last, I cut a piece off the old hose and screwed it into the adaptor from inside the tank - without it, if someone vacuums liquid it runs down around the cleanout bin and out the door.
