UPS Rate increase for heavy boxes

Just a heads up. I was talking to one of my suppliers today and he informed me that UPS is going to be charging an additional $24.95 heavy handling fee on any box over 50 lbs.

Ouch, I wonder if they willbe able to get away with that if Fedex doesn't begin charging it

I wonder if workers comp claims is the trigger. It seems when a new charge becomes the new norm ... it can be tough to reverse. In our area there is a regional shipper called "SpeedeeDelivery" Greg is correct alluding to the fact that healthy competition can be a factor.
