Unexpectedly high water bill, has anyone seen meter over report due to air in the line?

I thought I saw that it was installed after the meter.
I just assumed it was installed before. I wonder how that works then because it’s installed after and water already passes through the meter then what’s the point. Maybe I’m missing something.

If it did indeed compress the air, then I think it might flow less water, which would in turn show less on the meter. One thing I saw was that it worked better on the mechanical meters and it reduced the pressure by about 20 psi.

Read the same thing about mechanical meters so pretty much useless for me. Also most articles I seem to find have been made by the companies that make these. Since it's 2025 I did what everyone else does. ASK AI. It responded with “facts” that once again originated from the manufactures themselves.
