Triple Foam as Foam Brush?

Keno

Well-known member
Is anybody using a single color of triple foam as their foam brush? We've been using KR bubble up for years and been happy with it, but added a little left over diluted triple foam to the FB hydrominder tank and it looked way better with a way brighter color and more pop. Considering moving to a single triple foam color detergent or polish for the FB. Thoughts?

Good idea Keno - always wise to attract customers with good show and scents. Be careful about what product you choose. Dedicated detergents have the proper lubricity and cleaning ability to do an effective job in a foam brush application and not allow for dirt to be redeposited on the surface. A dedicated polish that is intended to be used in a splatter gun may not have the same cleaning properties or lubricity to give satisfactory results. Also be sure to select a product with non-staining dyes. Why anyone would make a product with dyes that do stain is beyond my comprehension, but that’s just my opinion. Good luck and let us know how it works out!

One good way I have found to make up foamy brush soap is to combine Simoniz correct powder, Simoniz foam additive, and hot water. This makes a very effective solution with a color that is white. I know that's not what you asked in the original thread, but this formula has worked for me for a very long time and it's definitely cost-effective and does a heck of a job getting the car clean.

not the greatest "show" in terms of color and scent, but great results in terms of getting the car clean. To me, a great result is the most important "show" there is.

What is the pH of that in the bay?

if you are concerned with putting high pH in the hands of customers, the real concern is that they don’t let it dry on the car. Hopefully they are spraying the car down with high pressure soap before using the brush and that should get it cooler and wetter to prevent the foam from drying. Always a risk but if Waxman has not had an issue it’s probably not a problematic chemical. I think a foamy low pressure, high pH presoak that they may apply to a dry car has a lot more potential to dry and cause finish issues.

I use JBS Pink Foam Detergent as my FB soap. Nice pink color, lite Cherry scent, and foams great! Does it have any real cleaning ability? No idea but I tried it and liked how it looked, smelled and cars look clean.
I think I had intended to use a low PH triple foam product but ordered the Detergent one, possibly by accident.
I did put a jug of BLUE foam brush detergent on line once when I ran out of pink. The blue left color on the floor and walls. I had one customer complain about his hands being stained Blue. i won't make that mistake again.

100%
JBS is an awesome soap but anything they make that's blue will make the user look like they assaulted a Smurf.

We are using a high pH presoak, then a neutral high-pressure soap, then a low pH foam brush currently, to hopefully get a shinier car with the protectants.

I prefer not to use any color in the foamy brush. It has a chance to get on peoples clothes or body and cause staining. Years ago I had a woman claim the colored foamy brush soap ruined a expensive dress. I have never used colored foam brush soap since.

We already use the correct mix for our PS and HP soap. I want something with some pop for the FB as that is something that almost everyone uses. We are happy with the Bubble Up, just trying to added more sizzle to the steak.

Good to know, was going to try blue as that is what we already use, but I'll probably now get a 5 gallon of the pink on the next order to try out.

I think I'm going to try out the pink JBS at 1 location and dual inject a small amount of blue 3x into the bubble up at the hydrominder at another that is already setup for dual injection on the FB. Hopefully it'll add a little pop of color both ways.
