Treadle eye problems

During a wash cycle the gantry will stop and all functions will stop intermittently. I realized the treadle eye seems to be getting a false signal by looking at the relay's I believe it to be "0" I can actually see it turn off and on while a car is in the bay.

I ran an external line from the relay board to the eye to rule out any shorts and installed new eyes and the problem persists. It comes and gos with no real rhyme or reason. Working fine one week and acting up the next.

My dist. thinks the sun is causing a glare on one of the eye's so I moved them back into the housing a good inch and a half.

any ideas?

The suggestion from your dist sounds like he pulled it from some dark body orifice. How could the sun hit the eye just right when there is a car over it? Maybe just at sunrise and sunset, and even that's a stretch. It sounds like you did the right things in troubleshooting it. If you ran a new line and had a known set of good eyes, the only thing left is the plc itself. There might be an internal connection that is bad.

At certain times of the day I've seen the undercarriage on our Vector shut off in the middle of a car going through, something that won't happen if I stand to make a shadow on the car in front of the eye. The sunlight reflecting off the car activates the eye and sends a false signal.

It's odd the "0" light on the relay will sometimes stay off so long that the gantry goes home and says happy car clean car. The eyes are telco IR i think and again have swapped them with brand new eyes and still same prob.

Now on another note maybe the same issue just different symptoms. I get the call from customer saying wash is down I get out there to find the gantry all the way at the end of track with drive motor tripped out. But when I wheel count test everything works fine.

i finally figured out the only way to get the gantry off the end of the track is to remove the cable from the home prox. I seem to be on my own here I've had the dist come out several times and we can't pin it down and of course it never happens while I'm there.

Thanks for all the help guys

What does the red lion say about the fault,,,,,, One thing I ran on when this happened was the low water safety switches in the pump room tanks were shorting and or bouncing with water moving around and moving the small float. if the main water tank faults it will shut down the complete wash.

Is this a WW? if so you might want to check the alignment of the safety eyes( the ones in the cans), if they are not align you will these type problems.
