Tap vs Swipers on SS bays

Good morning everyone. I currently have cryptopay swipers, bill acceptors, and coin acceptors on my self-serve meters. Has anyone gotten rid of their swipers and went strictly to taps. If so was it worth the switch?

Thank you

We left the swipers and added tap two years ago for our big remodel. The main driving force was that the largest credit union in Ohio is located in the next city over and they, at the time, didn't have tap on any of their cards. I'm estimating that nearly half of our customers use that credit union. Since then, they have been issuing new cards that are tap capable. Our YTD split is 82% tap to 18% swipe so looking back we probably could have removed the swipers. Most other washes that I have read about usually have a little higher swipe percentage than ours. I'm specifically talking about Cryptopay of course because the all in one readers (like Nayax) force a tap if the card is capable. Those have really low swipe numbers.

I'd love to get rid of our swipers. It's one of many upgrades we need. The big reason I want it is because magnetic strips wear out. Also, tap enables you to take phone and watch payments. As I recall, swipe disputes are automatically resolved in favor of the customer no questions asked.

At 2 of of our self serve car washes we removed the swipers and installed Tap plus readers, so much better to use for the customers. The change hasn't affected business at all. We have thought about taking the swipers off the ACW and installing the Tap plus.
