Tap Plus loophole for patient thieves?

Yesterday we had a guy come in with a fistful of credit cards, grab the HP gun and tap the first card.
The pump starts and runs for about three to four seconds, he starts washing his car, the pump stops and he taps another card.
He tapped 10 different cards about 50 times with 12 taps successfully starting the pump.
He was able to get a pretty good rinse on the car.
Starting to see this more and more, the inmates must be talking.

The swipers do the same 2 or 3 second start and shut down on a bad account, but they used to go into fraud mode after so many failed attempts. Fraud mode would disable the swiper for 15 minutes. Is it doing that on the Tap Plus?

cameras/ capture license plate/ get police involved. credit card fraud and theft of services. let everyone know you press charges for criminal activity at your wash.
100% agree with you that should be done in a sane world.
Without becoming political or defeatist (of which I'll be guilty of both in the next 5 seconds) retail theft under $950.00 is only considered "petty theft" in the wonderful state of California/Commiefornia, a cite and release crime. No matter how much it irritates me, theft of services equaling .50 to .75 cents an event would cost hours of video processing and report taking. Obviously I'm also thinking of the poor people that lost their credit cards to this astronaut/engineer/scientist too. The officers are good people, but I've learned in the past two decades when I'm going too far in our corrupt world when they sigh and say, "The DA probably won't pursue charges due to their caseloads."
Unfortunately, the juice isn't worth the squeeze.
The solution may be to contact CyptoPay and ask if there is a programming fix we can implement system wide.
I'll do that in the morning and report back here.

Contacted CryptoPay.
There is no way to prevent the 3 to 4 second start up prior to the decline. They were asked if an over the air software update is possible and said no.
Intervening with a hardware delay would only rob the 99.9% that aren't thieves. This definitely would be a factor in purchasing a new system.
Dude was on our property 45 minutes while a line queued.

Wonder if a delay can be made on the dixmor side of things, I think there is already a setting for a delay when using coins? Its been a while since I have had to program a dixmor

Good point!
I don't think I'm currently using the delay feature on my LED 7s, but I'll make sure it's enabled. The delay is for 2 seconds but that's half of the "free time" if it works.
