Splatter Gun Problem with Procon Pump

I take my wax splatter gun off in the winter so I do not waste weep water. When I installed it yesterday I found that it is pulsing. I traced the problem back to the procon pump and found that after it runs for about ten seconds it quits pulsing and sputtering and runs smoothly. After I reattach the hose it pulses again and will not stop unless I take the hose of the pump. I have already cleaned the filter that feeds the pump. Any ideas of what else it could be?

Try a different hose. The old one could be coming apart inside.
