I see a code violation with placing this or any electrical equipment within 20 feet of a gasoline dispenser. Can't help but wonder if the placement was approved by code.

Gas pumps are electrical equipment too - I would assume special equipment approvals are required in order to be placed near a gas pump.

If it is rated "Intrinsically Safe" it is safe to put in most environments, and there are different ratings of safe. Is any money to be made on a dispenser. I can't think of a time, when I got the oil changed and they didn't fill with washer fluid
