Shampooer Hose Replacement on JC Super Vac Combo

I had another shampooer hose split today causing ragged metal near the shampoo head. In the past I have replaced the whole assembly but today I decided to try and fix it by cutting it short and having my local hose guy put a new fitting on it. Spent most of the afternoon trying to fish the poly tubing and wires through with little success. Anyone have any tricks for this. Or, do you know where I can buy an assembly that is reasonably priced. This is crazy what these things cost and how often I seem to be replacing them. About five in five years.

First a local Hardware store cut the hose shorter and put a new fitting on it.
THE FITTING NEEDED DRILLED OUT TO FIT THE POLY HOSES AND WIRES
To fish the poly tubes and wires I first sucked nylon rope through hose then with about five extra inches before poly tube I taped twisted wires to nylon rope so it would feed through 90 degree before the poly tube. Then I taped a tapered (one then the next) poly tube to nylon rope and wire. Use as little tape as possible and slowly work the tubes and wire through hose while hose is layed out straight on the floor. I save a few hundred dollars but not sure if I would do it again.
