What is everyone's thoughts on what they like, (customers too!) and how much they are spending on them and how often they are replacing them....Besides owning a few self serve washes we are beginning to manufacture a few different ones at a HUGE cost savings and want to get this right for all of us to save some money!

Recently switched to Erie Brush Hog's hair . Like it a lot and so do the customers. I would think you would by a variety from each mfgr and see what you like and don't like.

Do you find cost and the shorter life of the Hogs hair an issue at all?

Don't know. Had them several months and they still look great. Thought this would be an issue. Of course we have had a lot of rain and business stinks.

I know one operator who said he replaces them twice a year.

We are in the Chicago area. Jan - June wettest 6 months in over 100 years of record keeping. October also one of the wettest if not the wettest on record.

If it's raining the only one washing cars here is mother nature.

I also use the Erie hogs hair and replace them twice a year, about when I can see them start to wear in the middle. They don't get matted.

Raceway, you'll probably find some of your posts deleted soon unless you become a paid forum sponsor.

Ahhh, I see your point, I thought I was just sharing information. So if I say that we have choose a certain brand of brush or mention a name then it is ok? Just want to follow the rules....

Well, I don't have a problem when someone comes in and says "I want to mfr. a new wizzy washer, what would you like to see incorporated into the design if you were to be interested?" When the statement "I can save you lots of money" appears, it becomes an ad and doesn't belong here.

Common sense would indicate that even if you just post unsolicited to give a name of a product, you'd still be advertising. I just wanted to give you a heads up as to what you can expect - if you want to try and work around it by pretending it's something else, that's between you and Bill.

I use the HOGGS hair brushes as well. I replace them about twice a year as well. I make sure they are always in top condition and probably change them more than that in my most popular bays. Between my two washes with a total of 21 bays I probably spend $1500 a year on brushes......well worth the investment, the customers do notice.

Raceway, I also use Hogs hair brushes. But if you want to invent something then how about a way to prevent customers using the expensive brush without paying, please. Like a Viagra handle. If you turn it on it will straighten up! ;o) That would be something!

I buy the hogs hair brushes from erie but I order the longest hair they have. I think it is 5 inch vs. 3 inch. They last longer and you don't have to change them as often. I order a case at a time at the trade shows and they give me the next higher quanitity lot price. By doing so it makes the long brustles cheaper than ordering the regular length a few at a time.

Good idea, I'm going to talk to Erie at the next show and see about buying in quantity. It seems that I order brushes on about every 3rd order from Windtrax or Kleen Rite.

The minimum order for a price break is 12. I order a dozen a year for 6 bays, ends up a bit cheaper than from Kleen-Rite, and I can order with a blue bumper. Kleen-Rite wouldn't get them for me.

You can order online at eriebrush.com now.

We use the Erie Hogs Hair and replace about twice a year maybe more. The cost is higher, but he customers love them, and thats who pays the bills.

Thanks for all the great info! We have been using this new synthetic nylon brush now since June with great success. The customers love it as they say it washes the vehicle better and it is easy to keep it clean and it stays in its original form very well. We didn't have great luck with the hogs hair. Thank you for the info guys...

How much do these nylon Foam brush heads cost? Who is the manufacture? Where can I get them? How long are the bristles on the new improved nylon foam brush heads? We are pretty happy with the extra long Hogs hair brush heads.
