SECWA show in Orlando

Greg Pack

Wash Weenie
Just a head's up that SECWA is having their annual "big" show in Orlando, July 17-20. The meeting will be held at the Swan & Dolphin Hotel. I talked to the director the other day and it looks like it's going to be a really nice show, with 150 plus exhibitors. I'm looking forward to attending the Disney institute seminar that I've heard about, as well as the car wash college's management seminar.

SECWA room rates are only 109.00 per night!

I do not understand why these shows have to charge so much for entrance in todays market, I have attented industrial shows in Chicago for over 20 years and never have had to pay as much as we do to attend a car wash eq. show.

Maybe I am just that much behind time, I believe if I was having a show like this I would do all possible to get as many bodies inside as I could.

Just my rant.

Part of the reason regional shows are held is to raise funds for the associations. SECWA is one of the least expensive shows to get into. The deal on rooms at the Swan and Dolphin is tremendous - less than half the normal price.

Are we going to the show or to visit Disney? if someone is looking at combining the show with vacation than I agree.

since I live in Orlando overnight lodging is not my concern.

As you said the (show is too raise funds for the SECW) that seems to be main objective of most Ind. shows these days.

Tom, if you are referring to cost of the full convention pass keep in mind that unlike many shows it covers several meals which cost quite a bit.

R U going to Orlando secwa?

We will be going again this year and was just wondering if anyone else has planned to attend this years southeastern trade show in Orlando. What are some of the things you will be on the lookout for? I know this show is much smaller in comparison to the ica show. However, smaller show may equal more attention with less distractions. Who knows, maybe we will bump into one another.............regardless, hope all who are going to attend have safe travel and a great show experience.:)

I'm going. I'm especially looking forward to the managers seminar by car wash college, and the disney institute presentation on customer service. I'll have family so I won't be around for the social functions, which are often quite well done.

I'm going as well. Looking forward the the Disney presentation. Should be a good show from what i've seen.

I'll be at the show, but having family in tow I'll probably miss most of the social functions. Hope to see you guys there!

Came Back Thursday. Good show, good facilities, overall a great time. The floor didn't have much equipment but it was still a good opportunity to meet with some old friends. Both the Disney seminar and the car wash college management seminar were pretty good. I took my family though and I'm still friggin' exhausted from five straight days of Disney World.

I need to make a point to attend more shows. I came back more enthused about the business.

I thought this was a pretty good for a regional show. Always good to see old friends and meet some new ones. I was surprised to see that some equipment companies were not there. Attendance the first day was good but dropped off the second day probably due to families going to Disney. This is the most family friendly regional in the country. Next year it is in Nashville.

The thing I like about the regional shows is that you can spend more time talking with the vendors and really get some questions answered. I enjoy ICA but the smaller show with less people is much more productive for me. I thought it was a great show with some very good seminars. Well worth the time and investment.

Will someone that has a connection with the SECWA suggest that they redo their website, one to include the Forum and another to provide a way to communicate with them. I was going to make them aware of this thread, and there is no place on their site to do that. OR at least I couldn't find it.

Can anyone share what where some of the vendors specials. I am really interested in new vaccums.... Did Adams have any special?
