Last night I received an automated call from one of my banks and they tell you that there is a security message and to make sure that it is you you need to put in your card info & PIN, which of course, I did, at which time the message tells you to never enter your info that "the bank" would never ask you for those numbers over the phone.
I hang up sort of dumb founded wondering "what the hell" and then I call the 800# on the back of my card. In which they too automatically (not a real person) ask you for your number and PIN. Since it had only been seconds, there was no activity on my card, but they canceled the card right then.
SO, I would recommend just staying on the line until a real person comes on.
