Round safe head questions

Are all 7" round safe heads the same? I see that the new ones all look the same and are usually store branded (Car Wash Superstore, Kleen-Rite, Windtrax). I have one that the hex is stripped out and I'm thinking of repairing it with a kit.

I don't see any stamping on this head to see who manufactured it.

There was 2 mfg of round heads Starr and D&S. No shure of the difference.

That's the one you need for the D&S round vault head. Those vault heads can be a bitch to get out once the Hex plate gets worn out. The new kit has a stainless steel plate, at last the last one I bought did.

Does it look like I have a Star or D&S?

Also, something that it confusing is that they are all referred to as either star or star-notched.

Pop the retaining spring ring out of the back of the vault head and remove the plate covering the guts of the vault head. You might have a tough time getting out with all the gray paint on it but it can be done. Don't lose the retaining spring ring, it's not in the kit.

The last kit I go didn't have the ring in the kit. There pretty proud of those bad Larry's, $55 for the kit.
