Let s know if that works. I have eyes but would like to change to a mechanical sensor. I've had a couple of incidents of people starting the wash even though they were over the safety rail.

8 years, 2 bays, never had a problem with tredle breaking. I do have a lot of tredle jumpers though, who have to back up and repeatedly go back and forth to get on the tredle. Some of them go into the bay like they are in a drag race.

After reading your post again -- my tredle does not have a plate other than the plate that attaches it to the floor. The tredle mechansim itself is more like a grate. It is made of round stock and small flat bar and is rectangular in shape and has about 5 bars going from top to bottom. I hope that makes sense.

Reds, it sounds that yours is the same as mine. The welds on the weight under the cover has broken off multiple times on both of my bays. The welds that hold the treadle mechanism to the round stock also has broken multiple times. Over 100k washes on each.
