I bought a new membrane to have as a spare. Because it was a different brand than the one that was installed, I wanted to test it out to make sure it would work. I installed it and it worked fine. I stored the original membrane in the equipment room.It was working perfectly. Fast forward 5 years later, I installed the original membrane back in the machine. Well, now I can't get hardly any flow through the membrane! Do membrane's age, and oxidize when exposed to air. I didn't leave it in the machine, but I wonder if a membrane was to soak for an extended period, would it "open" back up. I could have stored it in the R.o water tank, under water. I wonder if that is what you should do.
Has anybody experienced this? Is the membrane toast?

The membrane is ruined. Even if it had been stored wet it would probably still be ruined as algae would have grown in it.
