PDQ Manufacturing, Inc., Access? Customer Management System software now meets the VISA? USA Payment Application Best Practices (PABP) standards under the VISA? Cardholder Information Security Program (CISP). PDQ is the first car wash entry unit manufacturer whose high speed credit card payment application is PABP validated. Access? CMS is now listed on the official Validated Payment Applications list:

The program helps retailers and financial institutions meet compliance with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). The PABP listing means that PDQ’s Access? CMS software minimizes the potential for security breaches and compromised card information, when implemented in a PCI-compliant environment. The best practices include principles that protect stored data, make passwords safer, and eliminate full magnetic stripe or CVV2 data retention.

Effective on July 1, 2008, "VisaNet Processors (VNPs) and agents must only certify new payment applications to their platforms that are PABP-compliant." This means that wash operators may be unable to open a new merchant account and process credit cards at their car wash location if they are not using PABP validated payment devices.

"The PABP validation is an important designation to retailers and financial institutions and is essential in gaining PCI DSS compliance. At PDQ, we’re committed to protecting our wash operators and their customers from potential financial liabilities due to credit card fraud. Those wash operators not using PABP compliant equipment are putting themselves at financial risk," stated Dave Wingert, Vice President of Distribution.

I am surprised PDQ has gotten into credit card processing software since there are already MANY companies who do this already (check their list in the post). The only problem I see with this is now the opreator will be limited to just a few companies. Normally these companies can name their price and the operators processing cost is much higher, plus they are unable to use the processor they may already be using. I have seen both sides of this, one of Ryko's first processors was a company called Forward Reasearch, it worked fine and with any Ryko coinbox. As techs we had little to do with the setup (Forward Reasearch took care of the routing and bank info) but you were limited to one processor and their fees. The other option was to purchase the high tech AMTTCS coinbox that you could load software which worked with almost any bank or processor. Many sites wanted this so they could use the cc company they had been using. Ryko now has two more solutions, one is the new CAW4IC, it can store the program that used to reqiure the CSAMTT. Now with a regular AMTT you have the choice of who processes your cards. The best part is you can retro older AMTT sites by a simple CAW4 upgrade. The other option is the new Enteract coin box Ryko is selling with Intelio.

PDQ entered the payment industry with the release of the Access? Customer Management payment terminal in 2003. Before developing a payment terminal, we knew that getting the best credit card transaction rates for the wash operator using our product would be of key importance. Payment security was another critical area we focused on, resulting in the Access S-Series unit with a built-in vault.

As mentioned, there are a lot of payment gateways or software that manufacturers can purchase and use with their products. The PABP validated list on VISA's website is an all-inclusive list that includes POS manufacturers selling equipment across all industries (retail stores, internet shopping carts, pay-stations, etc). PDQ Manufacturing has developed a payment terminal specifically for the carwash industry.

Using add-on credit card acceptance products may result in potential problems such as security issues, higher transaction rates, and limited technical support. Security may be at risk without having the knowledge of how the system was designed. When problems arise, they may not be fixed quickly if the software vendor has other obligations, or a lack of resources to resolve the issue. Transaction rates may be higher on systems using add-on credit card payment software; involving more parties to process the same transaction. This is why PDQ has chosen the shortest and simplest method, whenever possible, to develop software integrated directly with a processor. We also allow the wash operator to choose the merchant service provider or acquirer. This method of doing business means the wash operator can choose the best provider with the least expensive credit card processing rates.

PDQ is proud to develop payment terminals with the customer?s upmost security and financial interests in mind. More information can be found regarding PABP validation and PCI compliance on our website at www.pdqinc.com/products/access/.

They can choose any provider reselling either First Data / EFSNet or Authorize.Net payment platforms. This doesn't limit them to only a few companies as there are many companies and partners reselling the above payment platforms.
