The program helps retailers and financial institutions meet compliance with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). The PABP listing means that PDQ’s Access? CMS software minimizes the potential for security breaches and compromised card information, when implemented in a PCI-compliant environment. The best practices include principles that protect stored data, make passwords safer, and eliminate full magnetic stripe or CVV2 data retention.
Effective on July 1, 2008, "VisaNet Processors (VNPs) and agents must only certify new payment applications to their platforms that are PABP-compliant." This means that wash operators may be unable to open a new merchant account and process credit cards at their car wash location if they are not using PABP validated payment devices.
"The PABP validation is an important designation to retailers and financial institutions and is essential in gaining PCI DSS compliance. At PDQ, we’re committed to protecting our wash operators and their customers from potential financial liabilities due to credit card fraud. Those wash operators not using PABP compliant equipment are putting themselves at financial risk," stated Dave Wingert, Vice President of Distribution.
