painting brick walls in SS bays

Right, once you paint you'll be painting at least once a year. Doesn't matter what paint, the problem is water leeching behind it.

You might consider a Sherwin Williams water based epoxy ABOVE 8 feet. Up to 8 feet our experience tells us that FRP properly installed tends to works the best.
 
Believe it or not, my best luck is to shut down the bays a couple of days and let the walls dry as thoroughly as possible, then use a latex paint. My theory is that the latex paint doesn't have problems with residual moisture like an oil based would. Try a test spot and report back.

Best way is to wait until Summer, shut down on Monday, acid wash, and to allow to dry, Paint on Wednesday, Open Friday at lunch.

But ultimately, FRP or PVC is the way to put it behind you forever. If you're going to own it more than three years you're better off.
 
Dont waste your time youll be repainting in 6 months

if you insist do as above acid wash let dry be sure to wet wall before you spray acid or brick will just soak up acid

I agree with Greg with real world results. I have 8' Extrutech panels and 36" of Latex painted walls and ceilings above the panels. Just guessing since I've only owned the wash 8 years, that it lasted approximately 15 years before needing repainted. It was still 99.9% intact, very little peeling. I just painted above the panels this summer, used Latex Storm Coat from Lowes. Used the same stuff several years ago on the outside of the block building and gables/overhangs, still looks as good as when I put it on. Around here, its about $100 for a 5 gallon bucket.

So, same opinion here, no need to use $100 a gallon paint anywhere at the wash., The best $$$ you can spend is putting up panels.
 
I have had good success with painting walls with Sherwin Williams Latex paint. It used to be MAB Seashore white, but is now Resilliance. My 7 bay has been painted 2 times in 15 years. Maybe a little touch up here and there. It holds up well to acid washing 3 or 4 times a year. Did what mac said, acid wash and let dry, scrape loose areas and paint. If there were problems it is usually from a spot where there was porous holes in the block and paint. My 4 bay location we had walls sandblasted and painted them.
I would never put a hollow core panel in a self serve bay, especially in cold weather areas. I did use Truscore on my ceilings and like it.
 
what about some type of cheap shower board? I am converting this SS bay, to my Softgloss automatic bay. It is a huge SS bay.
 
I just repaint them all the time... Doesn't seem like a major inconvenience.

I use cheap paint from Menards. It starts peeling after about a year, at which point I just paint over it.
 
it sucks to say but you get what u paid for

I painted mine once and thought this was great and cheap ill just touch up every now and then well I got tired of painting

I tried the frp board 8' up and and paint top few feet I though wow that looks good then they just came unglued, loose etc

so I blew about 1400 on extruteck and could not be happier make payments if you have too but you wont regret in long run, because sooner or later youll be buying it.

plus customers notice if its lipstick on a pig or professional

good luck go grab a scratchy ticket

last words sucks to spend money trust me, I started with a real turd, but youll get your $$$ back in looks, confidence , longevity and picking up dam paint chips


plus im in ohio the weather is awfull hear I c u texas
go paint it make it look good and see what happens worst case you spent a few bucks and not much time to roll it on

I agree I was a hillbilly and just put a few in and adhesive ....... I don't think its a bad choice and youll get time out of it
plus the glue probalbly stick better in texas :0
