I dropped into one of my least favorite places in the whole world to be today. I parked in the lot to the side of the store and headed for the door. Before I get to the door is the opening (about 5' X 20') where the carts are returned to the greeter. It leads to right inside the main entrance door. Since it would save me a few steps I just ducked under the door header and walked through there. About halfway in (app. 30') a lady yelled at me "Sir, go back out and come in the correct door!" I threw my hands in the air and said "You gotta be kidding!" She said "No, that's not an entrance!" I never stopped walking and said "Well, I'm already in now." She then told me "From now on come in the correct door or I will have to have you escorted out." I just rolled my eyes as I walked past and went on in the store.

Was that one of the most rediculous things to call out a customer for? If I stop posting suddenly please come visit me in prison:(

They were probably ****ed because you weren't following the Wal-Mart dress code....a cutoff t-shirt and sweat pants (stirrup pants for the 'ladies').

I love going to there, I feel like a supermodel!

Looks like I'm going to have to send Randy Nix and Ken Shorser to Kentucky to straighten you out. Pat, that's why they have an exit and enter posted on the doors LOL!

Those two future greeters ain't gonna straighten anybody out.

I would have had to walk another 50' to get to the main door and I was already worn out from hauling all of my money to the bank:D. I did actually go out the "Enter" door. I'll bet they're in the security office right now poring over their security footage trying to put a name to my face. It's a rush living on the edge as I do.

"yes it is too an entrance lady! Besides, this is a public place I can do whatever I want, go ahead and call the cops I'll have YOU arrested for harassment!"

thats what my customers would say anyway.

I've had that argument with our "customers" a number of times. On three different occasions I let them call the cops, and each time it ended the same way - with the cops telling them that it's private property, that I was fully within my rights to refuse them access, and with them being given a criminal tresspass warrant. I doubt any WalMart employees would ever take it that far though.

The last time I was in a WalMart, I was really surprised that they didn't call the police to have me evicted. I took my van in for an oil change and tire rotation. Three hours later they had not done any work, and then informed me my van was not standard, and they could not do the work. The van was standard off the showroom floor. I went nuts and went to the manager at the front of the store, right where all the registers are. Everyone in the store knew what a lousy place it was for any auto work. It was satisfying to ream them out.

I have always held bad feelings for Walmart ever since I sold them as a vendor. They are the most cut throat operation I have ever seen. They stretch payment out forever and return goods that do not sell. You rarely if ever see clearance prices on anything other than returned items. Some large vendors refuse to do business with them due to their high pressure tactics while others have become unwilling slaves to their purchasing practices.

Maybe sometime in the past they had great prices but my wife says that many of the other retail stores are very competitive with them even with brand name merchandise. Personally I never go there myself but I hate shopping in general unless it is absolutely necessary.

I avoid that place like the plague. It's always packed full of customers, even at 2am! What are people doing there in such mass at that time of the night/morning???

My pet peeve about Wal-Mart is the cash registers. My local store must have 40 or 50 checkout registers. On a busy day the most that will be manned will be 5 or 6. Every large Wal-Mart I have ever been in is built and managed the same way.

I primarily agree with everyone about Wal-Mart, but the bottom line is that they are a business and make decisions on how to run their business, if you don't like it for some reason don't go there, and don't bitch that it isn't the way that you would run your business. There are a lot of people running a business in ways that defy common sense but they must be making money. I have called a number of electrical contractors to get a bid to replace my electrical service, 2-3 never bothered to return the phone call.

Bill I also don't understand these companies that do business the way you say the electrical contractors have done you. It seems like most in the construction or industrial building trades just don't care. There have been many times me or one of my friends was looking for an electrician, painter, or someone in a trade like these won't call back and if they do they won't show up to do the job. If we did business this way we wouldn't last very long.

Same here - I much prefer Target, which is right across the road from a nearby WalMart. They will open another lane if there are more than three customers waiting in any lane, and they always have at least one register open near each exit. The WalMarts only keep one register open after midnight, and worse still, when they have a shift change they do all the cash drawers at once so if you're in line when this happens it may add 10 or more minutes to your already long wait in line. The worst are the self-checkouts. There's always a problem scanning something, and there's always an extra employee or two milling around the station for monitoring for a problem distracting the one who should be watching, so you either have to wait until they do their job and look at the display or call them over.

Sam's club is even worse (10 registars 2 cashiers) and you have to pay to be a member! They have people standing around with scanners to prescan instead of opening a registar.

One of our local Sams club is installing side by side automatics by the gas pumps in an already saturated market (28th street in Grand Rapids). One Mark7 and one wasemat.
