No good deed goes unpunished

So I got a little pi$$ed off at a very few customers that said my high reassure was weak. So I turned all the bays up to 1500 psi. Today, Labor Day, I went expecting a somewhat nice day not doing much. After a bit a customer comes and says the high pressure isn’t working. Checked and sure enough it wasn’t. Went to equip room and there the hose from the pump coupling had failed. Fixed and sat back. 10 minutes Later same hose in next bay failed. Sometimes the fun just never stops.

Yep, feels like bashing your head against a brick wall some days. Hope things improve soon (without changing every hose in the place!).

I've been running my pumps at 1500-1600 psi forever with no problems. If your rupturing hoses or blowing the ends off by raising your pressure slightly I'd have to say you need to re-hose your wash or redo the end fittings.

My wash is 18 years old and some hoses are original. The people do like the higher pressure.

We re-hose the hoses from the pumping equipment to the booms up in the attic every 6 years, that way we don't have to deal with to many broken hoses. The hoses off the boom we replace those more often, about every 2 years or when the outer jacket starts to crack.

So for me a better example of “No good deed goes unpunished”, is one day at the carwash I found a wallet on top of the tree vendor, looked inside there was $2 in the wallet and a drivers license with the name and address of the owner of the wallet, what I have always heard is that if you can find identification for the owner just put it in a local mailbox < that this is what your supposed to do, and they will send it to them, so that’s what I did, about 3 days later < on a Saturday, this young man called and asked me if I found a wallet at the wash, I said yes and that I put in in the mailbox drop off and you should be getting it in the next couple days, so about 30 min. after I talked to him and told him what I did his mother calls and says “since you were the last person to know about the last location of the wallet, and they have not received it yet” that she was going to call the police and tell them that I was the last person that was in possession of the wallet, I thought, What??!! Thanks allot, about 30 min later the young man calls back and says the wallet just came in the mail, I said great, and tell your mother I said thanks…!!!

I have found a few myself. I would just pull out the driver's license, tape it to the outside with clear shipping tape, and throw it in a mailbox. The last time I did it, the customer called about 1/2 hr. after the drop. I told him what I had done and to just go to the post office. He said "But I don't live at that address anymore". Well sorry, but that's what I did. He pestered me about what he should do, and I again said to go to the post office. About an hour later he called me and told me that if it was returned to me to call him. He couldn't understand why it wouldn't possibly be returned to me, because the PO had no idea who put it in the mailbox. When I got home the next day I had a message on my machine "This is Tim Buktu, could you call me about my wallet?" I don't know what he wanted, because he was so stupid I felt any further communication with him was useless, and I didn't call him back. I guess he eventually got his wallet.
