replaced pump that keeps eating the seals ( washed out head) with a brand new out of the box pump, this pump is really noisy compared to last pump, probably twice as loud. has anyone had this before?

It may be starved for water which might explain why the last one was eating up seals.

It's getting city pressure from a 3/8" hose?

Looking at the picture your Generant regulator looks like it needs to be serviced or rebuilt.
Here's a link to the rebuild kit. https://www.kleen-ritecorp.com/p-32...-capacity-pressure-regulator.aspx#description
I can almost guarantee that the valve stem is eroded to the point that it's bent. When this happens the pump is starving for water. You should also turn the regulator 45 deg. so the "T" handle is on top.

We had an instance where we had the pump running in the opposite direction. It seemed to be louder than the other. Once we reversed the direction it was normal.
