Need some help with older Hamilton after replacing internal clock chip.

I have a Hamilton ACW-4 that we recently replaced the SRAM (I think that’s what it’s called, has built in battery). Since it lost all its memory we re programmed the prices and tested it with cash. It seems to be working fine with cash now but when you use a card it acts like it’s working but says bay is in use but direction sign inside never lights up and nothing happens in bay. I literally have to go turn power off to reset it. Sorry my explanation isn’t the best.

Check with Hamilton. But my understanding……limited parts available till like August and support till the as well….then nothing. They announced that about a year ago

Dear Valued Customer,

We're less than 100 days away from discontinuing support for the ACW and dial-up credit card processing.

Effective August 29, 2025, Hamilton Manufacturing Corp. will discontinue support for the following:

  • Pay stations manufactured before December 31, 2001 (ACW, ACW2, ACW3, ACW4, ACW5, Auto Cashier, and Auto Tec)

  • Dial-up credit card processing(including ACW and Gold Line®)

We will continue to sell select parts for the ACW pay stations until August 29, 2025, but the availability of some parts may be limited, and some select parts will not carry a warranty.

Gold Lines® with high-speed internet credit card processing will not be affected by this EOL. For Gold Line® customers utilizing dial-up credit card processing, contact Hamilton's Customer Service (419-867-4852option 3; customerservice@hamiltonmfg.com) to discuss credit card processing options.

So the term “dial up card processing” I’m guessing is an old method. We use crypto pay for the automatic and manual bays. I can call Hamilton Monday I was just hoping someone here had some insight into this. I have seen some previous discussions about guys having to replace the SRAM chip and reprogram the prices. Was hoping this was something simple related to that.

Hamilton is your best bet for support. BUT…..be prepared the support and parts of that old unit will be non existent by end of August.
