I was in the detail shop today when I saw a red Kia soul pull up. I have a friend with the identical car so I was looking forward to a nice friendly chat. Instead, a woman walked in and explained that my car wash damaged her car. My automatic is a three-year-old razor. I said OK and walked out to look at the vehicle. She was a middle-aged woman with her elderly father. She showed me the typical 10 year old Clearcoat peel on the tops of the side mirrors and the center of the hood. I immediately said no I don't think this happened from the car wash. They both became indignant stating that they are 100% certain that these spots were not present before they went into the wash. I stated again that I was sure this didn't happen in the car wash but I would take their name and number and check my cameras and get back to them. Of course I found their vehicle immediately on the cameras. The footage clearly showed that the clearcoat peel was present before they entered the bay.
Thank God for the cameras because these people were completely convinced that this damage happened in the car wash. I'm certain that they would've taken this claim as far as they possibly could if I didn't have proof it was pre-existing. Crazy.
