I had a customer in a 2015 Mercedes C300 wash her car in my Autec Soft Cloth 425. The fuel door, which is plastic, opened up from the side pressure of the Soft Cloth wraps and broke off the fuel door. The Soft Cloth side wraps then forced the hinge into the body causing $1604 in damages. I'm frustrated that Mercedes makes these fuel filler doors out of plastic and that they are so easy to push open when re-fueling their car. Has anyone had any issues with these types of fuel doors on vehicles where you just push them to open them? Do any of you operators have a disclaimer sign on their IBA about the responsibility of vehicle fuel doors? Mercedes says it was the fault of the Car Wash that did the damage and that it's not a factory flaw.
