Mars Conversion on Hamilton Acting Up

I posted last week about an old Hamilton changer going down and many posted to upgrade it or take it out of service. I decided to take it out of service. I have two changers at this location and the other has already been converted to a Mars validator now it is having problems as well. I was going to order another conversion now I am not sure what to do. The conversion is an Etowah Valley and here are the symptoms. Works good for a few days then Mars validator goes down and gives a two blink error code. Which translates not communicating with unit or something like that. If I fool around with the connections and rest the Hamilton controller enough times I can get the error code to go away but then it will come back a few days later. I figured I would try to figure this out before I spent $600 on another conversion. Any ideas?

How old is the validator? What is the serial number of the validator? Check the prism in the bill box. There is nothing inside the validator that you can service in the field. Check the connectors inside the changer, stacker bypass plug, the card edge plug that plugs into the controller. Any error codes on the controller?

Two flashes means disabled from system, in other words the controller has told the validator to shut down. Your problem is more likely in the wiring or the controller than the bill acceptor. Since you have another Hamilton, start swapping parts and see if the issue quits. Check all the plugs, particularly the one on the side of the acceptor, to make sure they're in securely.

Does the changer go "Out of service" too? If so, what's the flashing code on the controller? That would tell you what's wrong and eliminate the acceptor as the problem.

OK went to the wash this AM. Same deal two blinking lights on the validator no blinking lights on the controller. I clean all connections with a spray contact cleaner then reconnect. Run one bill through it dispenses change then shuts down and starts blinking again. I try the wiring harness from the out of service hamilton and cannot get it to work (I get error codes on both Mars validator and the controller) I switch back to the previous harness and it works fine. I run 10 $1 bills no problem. Here is the info from my conversion hardware:
Mars validator - Seriel # 35281187495, Model 2631,
Controller - C20000ttC262v1.91 Serial # 0010-C15985
Any ideas?
