We have a 100 foot tunnel utilizing MacNeil RS Series closed cell foam brushes with a somewhat new MacNeil XR1000 hydraulic conveyor. We are a rear wheel push tunnel. My issue is that our MacNeil Sure Shine unit is constantly having the passenger side unit getting run over by vehicles. We allow some larger vehicles in our wash tunnel, in terms of tire width since we have such a wide conveyor. We are a gas station, store, and car wash that is always busy.

On an average day we will wash between 400-700 cars. A slow day is around 200 cars. And our record since I started working is 1061 cars. We have DRB integration as well for monthly plans, SiteWatch, and TunnelWatch. The problem is that our tire shine unit is hard to get parts for and we keep burning through bearings, the chemical spray manifold, the splash assembly, and other parts.

What is the best plan of action to prevent this without turning away customers?

Is your tire shiner extending too early? Ideally, it should not extend in front of the tire, it should be timed to come in just as the tire arrives. This can be tricky to dial in

Oversize tires with knobby tread will definitely climb over the unit rather than push it out of the way.
