How many detailers use a lubricant when buffing a vehicle with a compound, polish or swirl remover?

What do you use for lubrication?

What better results do you get with a lubricant than without a lubricant.

Anything else you would care to say about the use of lubricants when buffing.

No we do not use a lubricant for buffing.

We use the Flex buffer, a microfiber pad and Meguiars microfiber compound with great results. No hologram swirls. One step buffs out 1500 wetsand scratches fairly easily.

Lubes can serve a multitude of purposes when polishing. Both good and bad however depending on what polishing compounds you are using. Non diminishing abrasives typically react better from my findings. Water is abrasive. Using it allows the compacted abrasives to free up and extend their work time. This is great, but the downside is that it creates additional marring. I do not advocate the use of detailing sprays for pad priming Or for final polishing. It's just not needed. And if it is, that may speak volumes about the lubrication system.

I just spray my pads with 2 squirts of quick detailer before I start buffing just to prime the pads.
