Keeping your gun cocked?

I've looked down the barrel of a gun once. It was a 38 but looked like a cannon. One morning after a police shooting in our town the chief came to coffee. We asked him how three officers firing 15 shots at the bad guy all missed him. He said "its hard to hit something when your hand is shaking". We don't have a lot of crime here.

I'm sure that training and continual thought process is needed. IMO if you can't bring yourself to killing someone with your gun, you shouldn't have it. Someone will take it away from you and kill you, or you will hesitate a second or two and then make a mistake like shooting him in the back, which will get you in a lot of trouble.

Having paid attention to a lot of court cases IMO as a man the bad guy better be within 10 feet of you when you shoot him, if its a woman maybe 15 feet. Any farther than that and you will be broke with legal fees and probably in jail.

We havent made enough money in the last 6 months to need any protection!!!!!! But when we do, I keep pepper spray and my nice little 380 with great lead!!!!;)

DANG,,, my 380 does not have the slits for a laser site, the next gun I buy will have.....if my wife doesnt use it one me......

did you see where the guy in georgetown flew his cherokee into an irs building in austin????

Yeah, I got my ticket in a Cheroke 140 like that.

The guy was a coward and a loser, but people are getting fed up with government taking from those of us putting in 90-hour weeks trying to get ahead, and handing it out to the lazy arses gathered in their pity party.

I'm disappointed in my Laserlyte so far - they sent the wrong size allen wrench to adjust windage/elevation, and while I have tons of allen wrenches, none of them as small as the .05 I need for it. Also, it fit on my Springfield XD as advertised, but doesn't fit the rails on my Sigma like they said it would...gotta buy an adapter that will coz it to hang very low. Shoulda spent a little more for the Crimson Trace grip lasers.

I think carry a gun is fine, but remember most cops are killed with their own guns. I think I like the idea of more cameras, better lighting, tokens , credit cards, etc. To make a poor target in the first place, would at least give me a better false sense of security, and less stress. If i was to carry one i would make sure i was at the practice range, a couple of times a month, or maybe the idea of practice range next to a wash would make the wash more secure.

I have three daughters. I am getting my CHL next month and have started a nice collections of shotguns. I still have a few years before I need to worry, but that gives me time to practice.

You chosen a place to get your CHL yet? I've been scheduled 3 times and someting always comes up.

Come on in boy,
Sit on down and tell me about yourself.
So you like my daughter, do you now?
Yeah, we think she's something else.
She's her daddy's girl, her momma's world.
She deserves respect, that's what she'll get.
Ain't it son?
Now ya'll run along and have some fun.
I'll see you when you get back,
bet I'll be up all night,
still cleaning this gun.

I'll say it again, if you mentally don't know that you can kill the bad guy, don't own/carry a gun, you will either get killed with it or you will make a big mistake.

Cops are killed with their own guns because they have to bend over backwards before shooting someone and even then in the back of their mind is the possibility of getting in trouble, resulting in the split second of hesitation that gives the bad guy the advantage.

I read somewhere that even if someone has a gun pointed at you, you have a 3/4 of a second advantage to pull your gun and shoot them.

Been over that with my wife and students many times. I forget the exact stats but in general the rule is you never get in a car with the bad guy even if he has a gun pointed at you. If you get in the car, you're probably going to die. If you run instead, a decent percentage of the time he won't actually shoot. If he does shoot, a decent percentage of the time he'll miss you. Decent percent if he hits you it won't be in a vital area. The odds are with you, run!

Me, I can't run - I have to stay and fight, coz I'm still not getting in that car.

If you have to fight, remember to use projection to motivate you. Just convince yourself he just cleaned off his muddy semi in your bay and wiped the grease off with your brush.

I bet you will win the fight!
